Public is Invited to 男人藏精阁鈥檚 Annual Prayer Day Featuring Acclaimed Actress and Producer Siobhan Fallon Hogan

The entire event is free and open to the public.
BISMARCK, N.D. 鈥 The 男人藏精阁 invites the public to its annual Prayer Day, a tradition of faith, reflection, and community, with acclaimed actress and producer Siobhan Fallon Hogan as this year鈥檚 keynote speaker. Fallon Hogan, known for roles in 鈥淔orrest Gump,鈥 鈥淢en in Black,鈥 鈥淪einfeld,鈥 and more, will present her talk, 鈥淟iving the Faith in Show Biz,鈥 a topic that highlights the challenges and joys of maintaining Catholic values in the entertainment industry.
Fallon Hogan鈥檚 appearance on Prayer Day, Wednesday, Nov. 20, brings a unique perspective to the 男人藏精阁 campus. With an impressive career spanning three decades and a master鈥檚 in fine arts from the Catholic University of America, Fallon Hogan has remained a committed Catholic while working in Hollywood, an environment often at odds with her faith. 鈥淚n my industry, it鈥檚 easy to be swept into what鈥檚 popular, but I stay grounded by returning to my Catholic faith,鈥 Fallon Hogan shared in a recent interview with Aleteia, emphasizing her commitment to values that go beyond the screen.
This year鈥檚 Prayer Day begins with Mass at 9 a.m. in the Our Lady of Annunciation Chapel, followed by Fallon Hogan鈥檚 keynote at 10 a.m. in Founders Hall at the Lumen Vitae University Center. Fallon Hogan will share her journey as a Catholic artist and how she navigates her faith in a largely secular industry. 鈥淢y faith gives me courage to make choices that align with who I am, rather than what the industry demands,鈥 Fallon Hogan has said. The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion, allowing attendees to engage with her message further. Lunch will be served afterward at the Crow鈥檚 Nest Restaurant, and the day concludes with screenings of her latest film, 鈥淪helter in Solitude,鈥 with showings at noon and 7 p.m. in Arno Gustin Hall.
The entire event is free and open to the public. Attendees can register and find more details at umary.edu/prayerday.
Organized by the Saint John Paul II Center for University Ministry, Prayer Day at the 男人藏精阁 is a cherished event that fosters a day of reflection and community connection in alignment with the university鈥檚 mission. 鈥淧rayer Day has become a vital part of our identity as a faithfully Christian, joyfully Catholic, and gratefully Benedictine institution,鈥 said Father Dominic Bouck, chaplain and director of University Ministry at Mary. 鈥淧rayer Day 2024 is a unique opportunity for reflection, growth, and inspiration as Fallon Hogan brings a rare glimpse into the life of a Catholic artist in Hollywood. It鈥檚 a day for everyone, as we are all called to be artists in one way or another, creating a tapestry of faith, community, and inspiration for the region.鈥
The university is especially honored to host Fallon Hogan, a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient from the Catholic University of America, who represents both artistic excellence and fidelity to her faith. Known for her ability to bring humor and authenticity to the screen, she has said her faith informs the roles she chooses, stating, 鈥淚 see my work as a way to reach people in truth, bringing light where it鈥檚 needed.鈥 Her film 鈥淪helter in Solitude,鈥 which she wrote, produced, and starred in, tells the story of faith in times of isolation and is a testament to her values and creative vision. It was released in the U.S. in October to critical acclaim and is available on many streaming platforms.
